When is Total Wipeout returning and why has Richard Hammond quit?

IT’S been eight years since viewers were last treated to the sight of contestants getting pelted in the face by Total Wipeout’s legendary Big Red Balls.

But the water-based assault course game show, which became a cult classic, is being brought back — with two new presenters.

When is Total Wipeout returning?

The new show will be hosted by Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff and will be called , called Total Wipeout: Freddie And Paddy Takeover.

The six-parter will see the duo voice over some of the best clips from the show, which ran for three years before it was axed in 2012.

The BBC has yet to confirm when the series will air.

However, insiders have told The Sun it will hopefully be on screen in summer 2020.

Why did Richard Hammond quit Total Wipeout?

Richard didn’t actually quit the show.

The series was actually axed by the BBC back in 2012.

The decision came as a shock and many viewers logged on to social networking sites to vent their fury.


How’s does Total Wipeout work?

During Total Wipeout contestants are put through a series of obstacle courses and challenges.

After each challenge a certain number of them are eliminated from the competition.

After the fourth and final round the fastest of the remaining three competitors around the course wins the game and the cash prize
