DRUNK Royal Navy sailors had to be airlifted to safety after tides scuppered their beach barbecue.
One rookie seaman got cut off while a second who went to help had to climb out of danger.

Eight mates alerted emergency services and one man was winched off the cliff.
A source said: “These lads left HMS Northumberland on the Saturday with the plan of a barbecue and beers.
“They had been out all day in the sunshine and it all got a bit out of hand.
“Before they knew it, they were smashed and hadn’t bothered to watch for the tide.
“It’s a miracle neither fell.
“It was pitch black.
“They had no choice but to call for help.”
No one was injured in the drama at Tregantle, Cornwall.

Cops took the group back to base in Plymouth, where they were reprimanded by officials.
Coastguards confirmed the rescue in the early hours of May 31.
The Royal Navy said: “We regret that the emergency services were required but remain grateful for their help.”
